Alliance for African Women Initiative: Health Screening Intern/Volunteer

Health interns are invited to participate in an annual impactful 3-week experience.​ Partnering with Ghana Health Services the Health Screen Project holds community health screening days in disadvantaged communities to provide free screening for communicable diseases, counseling and information sessions on health services available to community members.

During the 3 weeks, Health Interns, AFAWI Staff and health practitioners will be working in two communities, to screen for HIV/AIDs, Malaria, Hepatitis B, Blood Pressure, eye screening, Breast Cancer and overall health.

AFAWI believes in sustainability for our projects, and believes it’s important to bring together experts and counselors, educators to assist the communities on nutrition, family planning, and other health-related matters. To continue the sustainability of the Health Screen Project, AFAWI will make a contribution to the building of a new community clinic.​ This special program includes experience on a health project, as well as all meals and 2 trips within Ghana.​
