Lchokuti Foundation: Volunteer with a pastoralist community in Northern Kenya

You can teach children in a classroom setting to make up for the big lack of teachers, or help the especially needy with one-to-one extra tuition, as their standard is extremely low compared to other parts of the country. You can also organize other activities, e.g. sports/dancing, or assist in our "Informal Education Programme" which teaches literacy, health etc. to community members who never went to school. This is one of the few volunteering opportunities based in Northern Kenya where cultural beliefs and practices are still very much alive, within pastoral communities (Rendille), and you will get to live within, experience and see people wearing a lot of beadwork all around the clock. On top, the project is located just around a Game Reserve with lots of animals like elephants, antelopes, monkeys etc.
