JHR provides an opportunity for experienced journalists and lawyers to contribute to media development and human rights awareness in some of the world's poorest yet most dynamic regions. JHR does not send journalists or lawyers overseas to work by themselves. By volunteering with JHR, participants will be working with local journalists, media outlets, lawyers or legal organizations, helping to build their capacity and advancing local human rights. While JHR regularly issues calls for applications for international positions, there are opportunities for those interested in volunteering with JHR outside of the regular programs.
